#1 An Introduction to IoT in Sheffield

This meeting is for anyone with an interest in IoT (Internet of Things) and data across the region, everyone is welcome.
The theme for the first meeting is ‘An Introduction to IoT in Sheffield'.
Location: The initial meeting will be held at the MindSphere Lounge in the University of Sheffield's Diamond Building from 6:30-9pm (following the monthly Things Network gathering at 5-6pm).
Our aims are to:
- Create a vibrant group around IoT and cybersecurity that enables individuals and organisations to share their capability and stimulate discussion and collaboration (sales-type pitches are discouraged).
- Enable real-world IoT applications, through facilitating technology research/development and commercial progress.
- Help position Sheffield as a leading IoT centre and lay the groundwork for larger events/activities that reinforce this reputation.
Speakers: (10-12 min talks)
- Hosts Mark Davies and Mike Faulks, Co-founders and Directors of Ioetec Ltd - Welcome and introduction
- David Oliver, City Connectivity Strategy Lead , Sheffield City Council - Sheffield’s Digital Connectivity Strategy (including 5G, IoT, Broadband and Wi-Fi)
- Tom Sexton, Siemens, MindSphere Applications Engineer - Industry 4.0 and challenges for IIoT.
- Steve Jubb, Urban Flows Observatory - Things Network Sheffield and their aims for a LoRaWAN network across Sheffield.
- Tim A. Clark, SAS , Global IoT Commercial Lead.
- IoT Security Foundation, ( confirmed, speaker to be announced)
Time permitting, we will host an open 5 minutes towards the end for anyone wishing to shout about their relevant IoT activity/events/interests.
Refreshments: Food and drink will be provided before and after the talks in the MindSphere Lounge.
