What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in vegan eating, animal rights, and related topics. All are welcome whether you're already vegan, are interested in being vegan, or just enjoy eating vegan food. A goal is to encourage veganism in and around Shepherdstown that may lead to vegan restaurants and other establishments and to an annual vegan festival in Shepherdstown.

Vegan Potluck in Shenandoah Junction

Diane and John's House

WHAT TO BRING * A healthy whole foods vegan dish containing no animal products (no meat, egg, honey, gelatin, dairy, sugar processed with bone char, etc.) to serve at least eight to ten people. * An ingredient or recipe card for your dish, to help those with allergies or food sensitivities choose accordingly. * If possible, bring along your own place setting (plate, bowl, cup & silverware), to ensure we have enough to go around without using disposable stuff. ~~~ Whether you are just curious about vegetarianism or you are a veg veteran and wish you knew more veg*ns in the area, come share a great meal and expand your veg social circle! We are a supportive group where we can openly discuss dietary issues, environmental and health concerns, and social challenges.

2019 Boonsboro Green Fest

Shafer Park

I (Alan) will be tabling at this event again this year promoting the vegan lifestyle in general as well as the Shepherdstown Area and Hagerstown groups. Please join me if you can and would like to. Below is copied from the Green Fest's Facebook page: "Boonsboro Green Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019. An opening ceremony will begin at 9:45 a.m. at the bandstand. Organizers expect the park to be filled to capacity with 200 vendors again this year, so vendors are urged to apply as soon as possible before all the spaces are taken. (There will be a waiting list.) The festival will also feature Live Music all day long, a Recycling drop-off center, Kids Zone, Food Pavilion/Food Trucks, and a Local Wine and Beer Garden. Proceeds from the garden go directly to the Friends of Shafer Park. Proceeds from the Clothing and Sports Equipment Swap benefit Micah's Backback and Children in Need. Vendors are chosen based on adherence to the Green Fest mission "to promote conservation, recycling and sustainable living within our community." Based on the themes or products of the vendors, they will be listed on the website and in the program brochure in various categories, such as Eco-Home, Eco-Lifestyle, Sustainable Agriculture & Gardening, Conservation & Recycling, Eco-Kids, Clean Energy Options, Health & Wellness, Eco-Transportation, Go Local, and Food & Refreshments. The vendor application, as well as forms to volunteer and to become a sponsor, can be found on this website. Forms are also available at Turn the Page Bookstore at 18 N. Main St., or by sending a request for a form to: Boonsboro Green Fest, PO Box 64, Boonsboro, MD 21713. The Green Fest Committee is the general sponsor of the annual festival, which is planned and produced by volunteers and is financed by vendor fees and the generosity of dozens of sponsoring partners. It is also an official event of the Town of Boonsboro. Don't miss this fantastic Community Event! [masked] www.boonsborogreenfest.com"
