Shiawassee River Paddling Meetup

Join Keepers of the Shiawassee for their first moonlight paddle of the season. We will paddle the Holly Mill Pond across the street from Waterworks Park 690 S Broad St, Holly, MI 48442. Get there with enough time to have your paddles wet by 6:30. Unload your boats at the Mill Pond then park in the Waterworks Park lot.
This is an up and back paddle in an mostly undeveloped section of the Shiawassee River. You will need to wear your PFD and have a light for your boat.
Future moonlight paddles will be June 12 on Linden's mill pond, July 10 at Seven Lakes State Park, August 7 Linden Mill Pond and September 4 on the river from downtown Linden to Hogan Rd launch.

Headwaters Trails Inc. is sponsoring a river cleanup of the Shiawassee River from Holly to the Walnut Hills Campground in Durand. We will have crews working different sections of the river on Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18. We are looking for people to pull trash out of the river as well as cut and move logs that are blocking the river. You will need a boat of some sort to go down the river since it is deep in many places and we cross some small lakes. If you plan to pick up trash, grabbers are helpful. We need people to get out of their boats and help push around logs and branches that have been cut. If you want to bring a chainsaw, you can help cut branches. Loppers are useful for trimming face slapping branches. If you wish to help us, call Chuck Julian at 248-634-3513 in the evenings.
