Shopify App Developers TO: UX Thinking for App Design and Development

Many of the best applications in the Shopify ecosystem shine because of solid and thoughtful UX design. Considering user experience from the outset facilitates strong UX centered choices that will benefit your product from on-boarding all the way through to technical scaling considerations. If you’re a developer, designer, or product manager curious about how you can better implement user experience thinking throughout your process join us on October 1st!

This meetup we’re excited to be joined by Nikita and Andrew, UX researchers with the partner platform team at Shopify.

Together they will talk us through strategies for recruiting participants for user experience research. Leveraging user research for your app can be the difference between a successful product that everyone loves or a poor experience that completely misses the mark. But while most app developers would agree with this idea, many avoid doing research because it is simply too hard to find the right research participants. Join a team of Shopify researchers as they discuss best practices for recruiting research participants and share case studies from some of the more interesting studies they've run in the past.

We will also be joined Steph Shin, a product designer at Shopify, who will talk us through the UX design process for the GraphQL Billing API. At the heart of scalable and intuitive APIs is great user experience, but the UX of an API is rarely considered. Learn how to integrate UX strategies to create improved API experiences using real life examples and lessons learned from upgrading Shopify’s own API.
