What we're about

This is a monthly book club that discusses only short stories, which is broadly defined to include novellas, short story collections, literary journals, flash fiction, and short short stories. So, if you love to read and you enjoy any type of short story genre, this meetup is for you!

We meet on the first Saturday of every month. Occasionally, we also meet on weekdays for other literary events.

This group reads both literary fiction and creative nonfiction.

NOTE: This chat has been rescheduled from Sept 4 and moved to this date. We will have our book club chat an hour before our guest speaker joins us. I apologize for the inconvenience. I hope you can all make it.

We veer a little from our usual criteria this month to read James McBride's Five-Carat Soul in anticipation of our author chat with literary scholar Judith Newman, who will be joining us later this month to discuss "The Under Graham Railroad Box Car Set," which is the first story McBride's debut collection.
