Attendance and Leave Management - An HR meetup

We, the human resources team(s), spend a significant amount of time in attendance and leave management. There are detailed guidelines and rules around this, by both, the Central and State Government that we need to comply with.

In addition to the letter of the law, we need to ensure that the team follows the spirit of the rules. Leaves and office timings are often a common gripe and source of friction within teams/organizations.

Like in every other industry, technology has had an impact. Biometric/ Card based attendance management systems are now common. How effective and useful they are is something on which the jury is still out.

Like everyone else, we trying to create a ‘perfect’ leave and attendance policy/system. Having learnt through trial and error, we think it is best to also learn from the others who have struggled with the same issues. This meetup is an attempt towards that.

We would love it to be an interactive event. Both the sessions below will be coupled with Q&A.

• Hear it from our expert speaker, Mr. Sharad Chodnecar, (Linkedin profile) (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sharad-chodnecar-a6256362/) who will decode the subject matter from the statutory compliance point of view. He will walk us through the basics of the law - the rules & the spirit behind. He will also guide us on what we, as HRs or employers, need to do to comply with these laws.

• Netflix in its now famous culture presentation said ‘Rules are not needed when you work with fully formed adults”. While we would all like to create an organization like Netflix, it is a long journey for the likes of us. We have had our share of experiments with no rules and then, lots of rules! I (Tanvi, your host for the meetup) along with Anuj (CoFounder Ajency.in (https://ajency.in/)) will do a session on our learnings from these experiments.
