Starting this May, we'll kick off our inaugural History Walking Tour series on a monthly basis, switching our hiking boots for walking shoes and going on a more cultural-historical hike through some of the various cities and towns of the Ark-La-Tex!
On Tuesday, May 21, take a trip back into the past with an urban hike in historic downtown Shreveport! Experience the city's founding and the region as it was in the 19th and 20th centuries at the Spring Street Historical Museum. We'll take a stroll down old Texas Street and pass sites like the Caddo Parish Courthouse, First United Methodist, the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Downtown YMCA, and the Shreveport Memorial Auditorium where Elvis himself played!
Park at or near the Spring Street Historical Museum and meet inside. After a brief talk with the museum curator, we will commence our walk down Spring and Texas Streets.
After the downtown walk, we'll get back in our cars and drive to have lunch at one of Shreveport's oldest family owned restaurants, Fertitta's Deli! See you there!
