What we’re about

The Lehigh Valley Group of the Sierra Club - Pennsylvania Chapter, with 1,500 members, created this Meetup to bring people together who love and respect the Outdoors.

We have Hiking, Biking, Kayaking/Canoeing and Learning Meetups, as well as Meetups tied to the events effecting the Outdoors of our PA, NJ, and national communities.

You do not have to be a member of the Sierra Club to join this group. You only need to want to join others in discovering and enjoying our natural world.

The Lehigh Valley Sierra Club is part of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Sierra Club, which has 24,000 members. The Sierra Club is the world's oldest and largest environmental grass-roots environmental organization, founded by legendary naturalist John Muir in 1892. Muir explored the Yosemite Valley in California and while hiking in Yosemite with President Theodore Roosevelt inspired him to persuade Congress to establish Yosemite as America's second National Park.

The Sierra Club's efforts have preserved wilderness areas throughout the U.S. and helped expand lands preserved under federal and state protection. Its 2 million members are at the forefront of environmental advocacy today, including national campaigns to combat climate change, close down dirty coal plants, halt environmental degradation from natural gas hydrofracturing, and preserve endangered wilderness areas.
