This is a group for anyone who likes to get outside and enjoy nature-- you don't have to be a Sierra Club member! We will be organizing hikes, float trips, camping, and other outdoor adventures! All skill levels welcome!

Stream Sampling at Shepherd of the Hills State Park
Shepherd of the Hills State Park, 4424 Sycamore Church Road, Branson, MO, USHave you ever wondered about the many tiny creatures living in our Ozark Streams? The White River Group of the Sierra Club is going to help collect and count all kinds of aquatic macro invertebrates, such as snails and crayfish, at Shepherd of the Hills State Park on Saturday, October 17.
Shepherd of the Hills State Park is one of our newest state parks, purchased in 2016 and working towards opening to the public. Sierra Club members are playing a critical role in the park’s protection through activism and advocacy. This outing will give participants a sneak peek at this beautiful new park - plus we will be helping with important research.

The Climate Ahead: A Conversation with Bill McKibben

Join the White River Group of the Sierra Club for a special virtual presentation and conversation with renowned environmentalist, author, and climate activist Bill McKibben.
McKibben will discuss the current state of the climate crisis, the accelerating transition to clean energy, and what lies ahead for the climate movement. He will also explore emerging issues, including the growing energy demands of data centers, and reflect on the climate and political landscape following the November midterm elections. The presentation will be followed by an audience Q&A.
Bill McKibben is an acclaimed environmentalist, author, educator, and climate activist. He founded 350.org, the first global grassroots climate campaign, and Third Act, which organizes people over 60 to take action on climate change and democracy. He has written more than 20 books, beginning with "The End of Nature", widely regarded as the first book about climate change written for a general audience. His latest book, "Here Comes the Sun", examines the rapid rise of solar energy and the promise of a cleaner energy future.McKibben serves as the Schumann Distinguished Scholar in Environmental Studies at Middlebury College and has received both the Right Livelihood Award and the Gandhi Peace Award.
