Support the "Ban the Bag Campaign"

Details

Eugene City Council will hear public comment on the proposed ban on single-use grocery bags at Monday’s 7:30 PM meeting. The ordinance has not yet been scheduled for a final vote.

Prior to Monday’s public hearing on a plastic bag ban, advocates from the Many Rivers Group of the Sierra Club, Environment Oregon, the Surfrider Foundation, and the Oregon League of Conservation Voters will jointly host a press conference at 6:30 PM at the Eugene Public Library.

Advocates at the press conference will also share comments on the groundswell of local support, as well as the significance a Eugene ban has for the rest of the state. Over 80 local businesses also signed on in support a plastic bag ban ordinance, as well as the Northwest Grocery Association.

Please join this coalition of environmental groups and support this important proposal. Corvallis has already passed a similar ban on single-use bags. Look for Mike Brinkley (photo below) wearing a Sierra Club hat.
