Game Design Workshop - How to design no. 1 paid game app

TITLE: "Successful Mobile Game Design" OUTLINE: What makes a hit game? Why are some games "addictive" or "viral"? How do you design a game from scratch? How do you turn ideas into games? Using examples from hit iPhone games, Evan will discuss popular approaches to these problems, and how this game design process has influenced Ansca Mobile's casual game development tools. SPEAKER BIO: Evan Kirchhoff, Software Architect, Ansca Mobile Evan is the lead architect of Corona Game Edition, Ansca's mobile game authoring tool. Before joining Ansca, Evan worked for Adobe as a Senior Flash Developer on the Verizon Wireless "Dashboard" project. In addition, Evan was the cofounder of Comrade Software, a Flash and mobile development company in San Francisco. Among other projects, Comrade shipped Flash mobile games to the carrier decks of both Verizon Wireless and Softbank Japan. Evan holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Manitoba, and reached ABD status in the University of Michigan's doctoral program in Philosophy. ABOUT ANSCA MOBILE: Ansca Mobile is a venture-backed mobile startup based in Palo Alto, CA, and founded by former Adobe mobile software engineers who previously led the Adobe Flash Lite engineering team. Ansca team members also hail from Apple and Pixar, and the company's investors are former Google and Microsoft executives. Corona Game Edition is Ansca's cross-platform, hardware-accelerated game engine with an easy scripting API. Corona-based games run at native speeds in OpenGL on both iOS and Android devices, and take full advantage of device features like accelerometers and multitouch screens.
