• Monitoring Power BI

Monitoring Power BI means having knowledge of all the content currently hosted in your Power BI tenant. What datasets and reports have been published? What users have access to these resources? How often are they looking at these reports? How have data refreshes been performing? By monitoring, you will truly understand what makes you an Administrator of Power BI. You'll see the different screens it takes to monitor everything in your tenant. Plus, you'll discover if there's a better way to monitor your tenant through collecting API data and analyzing it to derive some actionable insights for improved data governance in your companies. BI expert Angel Abundez will demo the Power BI administrative screens you use today to monitor your tenant. Then he'll do some PowerShell development in VS Code to collect API data and see if it's possible to use that data in Power BI for added insights. You'll learn: * Power BI Administration screens * Minimum permissions needed to administer Power BI * Useful PowerShell modules to collect API data * Different use cases of discovery and cleanup Angel Abundez is VP, Solutions Architecture at DesignMind

  • Using Power BI to Analyze SharePoint Forms and Workflow Data

Learn how to build an end-to-end Power BI solution that unlocks the value of your SharePoint forms and workflow data. Afterward, you'll gain unique business insights by drilling down into collected forms/workflow data; filter by workflow, types, users, roles, departments, etc., and get answers to your most important business questions. Most data collection and BI implementations require deep technical knowledge, coding, and coordination with IT. Veteran BI expert Alex Viera will demonstrate how to bypass the technical hurdles. Alex will demonstrate and then build a complete BI solution; starting with provisioning a SharePoint form and workflow for data collection. He will then show how to use Power BI (or any BI tool) to identify which forms/workflows yield the best business results, target those workflows that need improvement, and gain key business insight using PowerBI. You'll learn how to: * Build an end-to-end no-code BI solution with minimal IT involvement. * Provision your SharePoint forms and workflows for data collection * Log the time duration of a SharePoint Task, or specific stages in a workflow for reporting * Log workflow specific data (list item data, user context info, custom) at any step in a workflow. * Transform the logged data into insightful reports in Power BI, or any other OData capable reporting tool.
