"I don't sing because I don't have time." "I don't sign because I cannot carry a tune." "I don't sing because it doesn't make money." Except that it does. Neurosciences show that when you sing, it fires up the right temporal lobe of your brain - the center of creativity. Endorphins, aka feel-good hormones, get released. They make you smarter, healthier, & happier. The effect is magnified when you do it with other people. The right part of the brain is also connected to intuition and imagination - both necessary to navigate complexities and distractions of the modern world. If you can talk, you can sing. It is a skill given at birth. There is only a tiny fraction of the population who cannot produce a sound. What prevents many from singing is self-judgment and expectations. "I don't sound the way I am supposed to." Voice, in that way, is similar to a body image ("It should be cleaner, brighter, clearer etc.") Sing Yourself Free is the place to re-discover your voice and have fun. It is an empowering experience that helps with self-expression, creativity, positive emotions, spiritual connectedness, social relationships, and physical well-being. What to expect: - gentle body warm-up - vocal cord warm-up - simple vocal exercises - improvisation - singing of songs - percussions - cool-down & wrap-up Fee: $20 (cash or Venmo) Mariya Shiyko, PhD is the organizer and a facilitator. Mariya has training in classical piano and singing. She abandoned singing for many years & re-discovered it later. She is the founder of the School of Mindful Play. The mission of the School is to contribute towards reforming the educational system www.mariyashiyko.love With questions, message Mariya at [masked]
