Hi Everyone,
Couldn't be more excited for this upcoming virtual meetup. On Tuesday, 6/23 we will be joined by Adam Wolff, VP of Engineering and Infrastructure with Robinhood.
We took the feedback from the last meetup and will use the traditional Zoom format to make this session a more interactive for the community. Our plan going forward is to keep these meetups to one speaker with a more frequent cadence of talks. Please reach out if you or your team would like to speak!
Last thing to note is that this talk will NOT be recorded.
Agenda:

Adam Wolff: System Reliability and Hypergrowth
The scale of Robinhood’s product has grown dramatically since the beginning of the year as interest in investing has hit historic levels. For example, one of our core APIs has seen an over 6x increase in peak queries-per-second since December. As millions of customers turn to Robinhood to participate in the financial markets, they, our counter-parties, and regulators expect reliability, no matter what. In this talk, we want to share some of what we’ve learned about the challenges to maintaining correctness and availability in the face of booming growth.
Speaker Bio:
Adam Wolff is Robinhood’s VP of Engineering for Infrastructure. This group comprises teams that work on testing, security, business automation, and the software platform for Robinhood’s production services. Before joining Robinhood, Adam spent eight years at Facebook, where he was in charge of its Product Infrastructure team, which was responsible for projects like React and GraphQL. Adam joined Facebook when the startup that he co-founded, Sharegrove Inc., was acquired in 2010. Before founding Sharegrove, Adam was the Chief Software Architect for Laszlo Systems, where he worked on rich client apps and open source software before it was cool. Adam got his start in the software industry working as a game and interaction designer for companies such as Rocket Science Games, Purple Moon, and Microsoft.
