From being in the Bay Area for the last three years, I've learned that a lot of people here want to learn how to skateboard. Whether it's to conquer ramps, learn to ollie (i.e., jump) up curbs, or just travel to work--this is the best place to learn quickly and safely. I've been running this class for over two years, and I've developed a series of beginner drills that teach people how to balance appropriately and often ride on their own in just one class. When students return for second and third classes, they progress to turning and ramps, and it's great to see their excitement when that happens.
New COVID Rules
-Class size is limited to 3 students instead of 5
-Must bring your own pen to sign the waiver (or use hand sanitizer provided by me)
-If you have a waiver on file with me, you don't have to sign again
-I cannot lend out boards for now because it's considered shared equipment
-Private lessons are still available before or after class (30 or 60 minute)
-Payments through PayPal or Venmo are preferred
In this beginner lesson, you will learn how to stand and balance, turn, and stop. If you are a bit more advanced, then I will help you learn ollies, 180s, shuvits, and kickflips. If you are super advanced, I'll teach you varial kickflips, kickflip 180s, etc.
-Bring your own board or message me to ask if you can borrow one (I have two extra boards that I lend out for free). If you wish to buy a board, any board on this page will be great: https://shop.ccs.com/skateboards/complete-skateboards. Any of the CCS boards for $69.95 will be a good choice. Go for a width of 7.75 inches. If you have large feet, then 8 inches is okay. I caution against buying boards at sporting goods stores due to inferior quality.
-Pads are recommended but not required. (As with all risky activities, you will be asked to sign a waiver. That being said, if you follow my instructions, your risk will be minimal. I have jumped down 8-stair sets and never broken a bone because I know how to skate safely.)
-If you are under age 18, you must be accompanied by a parent who signs the waiver
-Shoes that are flat on the bottom are best for skating.
-If you have been to class when it was a lower price you can attend at that price as a loyalty discount
-Private lessons are available before or after class at $60/hr if you send me a message.
-This class has a capacity. Please show up only after you have joined the RSVP list.
