What is product design and why is it important? How can we make our products better? What core principles can we follow to make our design "good"? What makes a design "bad"? Are these even terms we should use? What are some real world examples of design principles in practice? How can we know if our products are actually designed well? Let's get together to listen to some industry professionals discuss what design is and then open it up for discussion.
These Redesign workshops are all about taking a digital design, analyzing it, breaking it down into its components, and rebuilding it! In this Redesign workshop, we will be doing Apple Music. Please bring your MacBook 💻 if you can, or follow-along with someone else (or the hosts). This will be a hands-on workshop. 😎
For this book club, let's read "The Design of Everyday Things" by Donald Norman. (https://www.amazon.com/Design-Everyday-Things-Revised-Expanded-ebook/dp/B00E257T6C/) "The Design of Everyday Things" is a classic, written by Don Norman, the first person to ever have "User Experience" in their job title. -- Our book club will meet every 2 months to discuss a book about design. - You can see the full list of books here: https://github.com/esthor/no-flo-sketch/tree/master/BookClub - We also have a Slack channel for this book-club, so we can all chat whenever (#book-club in the slack group) -- If you need help joining, just message Erik Thorelli
Come for a talk and demo of Sketch, with a focus on its use in UI and UX Design for Web, Mobile, and Desktop Software. Advanced users should also come and show some love! 👩💻👨💻 There will be some sneak-peaks of advanced stuff towards the end. 🚀 💻 You are encouraged to bring your own mac to follow along with demos. If you have no experience with Sketch or any design tools, check out their site to get a feel for what it is: https://sketchapp.com/ We will also open up to talk about what YOU want from this new meetup group and future meetups topics. 👍
