Računalniške igre večinoma temeljijo na domišljijskem svetu. Zelo malo pa je takšnih katerih vsebina temelji na poglobljenem raziskovanju in katere lahko uvrstimo v žanr dokumentarnih oziroma docu iger.

Dokumentarne igre (ne zgol,j ampak tudi zato!), ker so redke, predstavljajo izjemen potencial tako na nivoju načrtovanja igre in razvoja njene vsebine ter tudi v fazi trženja in monetizacije.

Lepo vabljeni, da 11. junija na rednem Game Dev Meetupu prisluhnete Georgu, enemu najbolj družbeno angažiranih razvijalcev računalniških iger na svetu. Georg nam bo predstavil nekaj svojih najzanimivejših “docu game” projektov in nas popeljal od začetne ideje, načina pridobivanja sredstev in prek procesa razvoja.

Georg Hobmeier, Avstrijec iz Tirolskih Alp, je medijski umetnik in oblikovalec iger, katerega delo vključuje elemente politične komunikacije, digitalnih medijev in iger. Več kot desetletje se je osredotočal na razvoj plesnih, gledaliških in tehnoloških umetniških projektov, danes pa se predvsem posveča razvoju iger in interaktivnemu pripovedništvu.
Njegov debitantski projekt na področju iger “Frontiers” je odmeval v medijih (Zeit, Arte, …), z njim pa si je Georg leta 2012 tudi prislužil nagrado Izjemni umetnik, ki jo podeljuje avstrijsko kulturno ministrstvo. Leta 2014 je ustanovil studio Causa Creations, ki je osredotočeno na raziskovanje družbenega zavedanja in zbiranju sredstev za razvoj iger. Njegovi zadnji projekti so: The Fallen, Path Out, Nowhere Prophet in projekt igre za gledališče Vienna - All Tomorrows.

Koproducenta dogodka sta Poligon -> kreativni center in Center za kreativnost, pri MAO Slovenia, v sodelovanju s skupnostjo SloGameDev.

Georg Hobmeier: Docu Games - moving beyond fiction

Only a small fraction of the global gaming market is featuring themes that aren't of a fictional nature. Even fewer games are using extensive research as part of their development process and are striving for a type of experience that could be called documentary or docu games. However, there's a tremendous amount of potential laying dormant, offering new solutions not only for game design and content development, but also for marketing and monetization. In this sessions I would like to introduce the audience to some selected projects, some of them my own creations, highlighting the unique ways in which these projects were conceived, funded and developed.

Georg Hobmeier, born and bred in the Tyrolean Alps, is a media artist and game designer whose work lingers in the borderlands of political communication, digital media and games. After a decade of developing art that was interfacing dance, theatre, and technology, he turned his attention to the development of games and interactive storytelling. His debut work, the mod „Frontiers“, received extensive media coverage (Zeit, Arte, …) and the Outstanding Artist Award of the Austrian ministry of culture in 2012. In 2014 he founded Causa Creations, a studio dedicated to social awareness and fundraising games. Recent project include The Fallen, Path Out, Nowhere Prophet and the game theatre project Vienna – All Tomorrows.
