What we're about
Established in 1990, Slopes and Trails is a social activities group for mature, active adults. Most of our members are over 55 and come from all over the Rogue Valley. Outdoor activities include camping, kayaking and canoeing, bike riding, hiking, rafting, golf and picnics. In addition, we offer free dance lessons, bowling once a month, game nights and movie/dinner events. Travel is also a love of many of our members and group travel is encouraged. Trips to Australia, New Zealand and Italy as well as weekend trips to Bandon and Union Creek have been offered in the past. Our group is also famous for its potlucks, progressive dinners and holiday meals. We are good cooks and love to throw parties. Our holiday meals ensure that no one is alone for special days. Members are also encouraged to sponsor or co-sponsor their favorite activities.
Slopes and Trails members are also dedicated to our community. Some of the service projects we participate in are the Shoebox Program (Christmas small gifts for shut-ins), Access Food Project and the annual blood drive.
Every Friday, our members and visitors gather at a winery, bistro or pub to greet old friends and meet new ones. Greeters are at each event to welcome new people to our no-host social hour, introduce them to others and answer questions. Often, we gather for dinner following the social hour. Flyers for upcoming events are always available.
TGIFs are open to the public. All other events require membership after attendance at 2 similar events. Annual membership is inexpensive at $35 per year. Newsletters and calendar are distributed via email every month.
