Slow Food Social - Potluck Style!

Details
Join Slow Food Boston (http://www.slowfoodboston.org/) on Tuesday, May 17th for our spring Slow Food Social! Throughout the year, we will host Slow Food Socials (aka cocktail hour!) at various bars and restaurants around town to encourage Slow Food members and the Boston food community at large to learn more about the Slow Food movement and connect with like-minded folks.
This month we're switching things up! This month's Slow Food Social will be at The Food Loft (http://www.thefoodloft.com/) in South Boston and will be POTLUCK style. The Food Loft is Boston's first-ever co-working space dedicated to food and food tech startups and small companies - perfect for us Slow Foodies. Attracting bright, passionate entrepreneurs whose business ideas improve the current food landscape,The Food Loft is more than just a desk; it’s a place to meet, network, and forge a future for food at the grassroots level.
This month we ask that you please bring a labelled dish that can feed between 6 and 12 individuals. For participants who are vegetarian or vegan, observe dietary laws, or have food sensitivities, knowing the ingredients is important. If food sensitivities or allergies are an issue for you or your family, please be aware that some foods may contain nuts, shellfish, and other potential allergens. If you’re wondering, please ask! We're trying our best to minimize waste, and a little pre-planning will reduce our need for disposable plates etc, if you can swing it with work, we'd love to have you bring a plate and utensils from home.
For some inspiration on what to bring, we wanted to offer the idea of highlighting the coming of spring (think Salads, Asparagus and radishes). Still need a place to start? Over the coming week we'll be posting recipe ideas to the group!
About Slow Food Boston: Slow Food Boston is a local chapter of an international food movement that supports “good, clean, fair food for all." We believe in building communities around the sensory experiences associated with food in order to create and sustain healthier relationships, environments, and citizenry. We seek to celebrate the diversity of food traditions to discover the bonds we share across cultures, continents, and kitchen tables. Every day we harness individual expertise and communal passion to work towards a better for system for all. And at the end of each, we don't think there's anything better than good food and good drinks shared with good friends. Here at Slow Food Boston we work to promote foods grown, produced, and prepared here in Massachusetts and throughout New England. We seek to raise awareness of sustainability issues and to host events that are just plain fun.
Members of Slow Food Boston receive advance notice of events, discounts on tickets to various events throughout the year, and help keep Slow Food Boston (a volunteer-run organization) going! Please consider joining us today (http://www.slowfoodboston.org/membership.html)!
