Make and Take a 3D Printed Moon Lamp
Hosted by SnoCo Makers
Details
Make and take a 3d printed moon lamp. Everything for you to make this lamp will be provided so just show up and make it! If you are not too confident with SMD soldering that's fine you'll get a crash course :)
Search online for 3d printed moon and you'll come across a lot of them so you can get a better idea of what it might look like. I just happen to use one from thingiverse.com
Here are some pictures of what you'll actually be making :
These things look awesome when they are illuminated (my pics don't really do it justice)
We will have 2 variations of the PCB to make so you can choose the one you want to assemble.
Variant 1 has the serial programmer build on the board so you can program it and power it using a micro USB cable.
Variant 2 has header pins to connect your own serial programmer. It is powered with a 5V barrel jack.
The lamp uses WS2811 (like neopixel) LED's so they can illuminate the lamp with any color. The microcontroller is an ESP8266 so it's easy to program in the Arduino environment and has Wifi.
We will provide a basic Arduino sketch that can be used to access the lamp via a web browser to control its color and brightness. Obviously you are free to load your own software on there!
At least 3 people required to RSVP in order for this to go ahead.
This should take a couple hours to do but we will extend the workshop to accommodate getting everyone finished.
