Details

Together with our co-host Hacker Fund (http://www.hacker.fund/) (see bellow for more info) we are throwing a BIIIIIIIIG SoCal Node.js Events and you DO NOT WANT TO MISS IT!!!

We will be at the newest, biggest and coolest co-working community in Silicon Beach called CTRL Collective (http://ctrlcollective.com/), have two really awesome speakers, a fantastic marquee sponsor (Hired (https://hired.com/)) who is making this event possible and helping with food and beverage, and last but not least we will have FREE BEER at the event! (sponsored by Anheuser-Busch (http://anheuser-busch.com/))

Topics for the month are:

  1. Server Reliability: unit and end-to-end testing APIs

We will dive into BDD (behavior-driven development) and TDD (test-driven development), discuss the importance of unit and end-to-end tests, and look at different libraries used in these practices featuring the CTRLLR API testing framework by @CTRLLA.

Speaker is Samuel Ishmael Philip who is the CTO and co-founder of CTRL LA, a product studio based out of Venice, CA. As a full-stack engineer, Ishmael leads the architectural planning and development with a focus on server-side development. Find out what him and his team are up to at @ishthedestroyer and @CTRLLA (Twitter) and @ishmaelthedestroyer and @CTRLLA (GitHub).

  1. Masters in Node

You've taken Node 101 and successfully completed some experiments in lab. But what would it take to get a Masters in Node?
Let's look at five Node researchers and the work they're doing to push the boundaries of our field. After this talk you'll have a good idea of some exciting frontiers and new powerful techniques you can incorporate into your projects.

This topic is presented by David Guttman who is the CTO at Interlincx and organizes several monthly technology events such as JavaScript Los Angeles ( http://JS.LA ) and Spec.LA. He writes Node tutorials at http://dry.ly and his art is on display at http://thhis.com .

Make sure to secure your spot since the seats are limited and please be serious about attending when you RSVP "YES"!

Co-Host:

Hacker Fund (http://www.hacker.fund/) which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity that spreads the hackathon hacker culture to kids across the globe!"
