This is a non-hosted event. Train schedule is recommended to enjoy the entire day without worrying about transportation.
Over one hundred years ago, the Chinese community began to participate in the parade of the City of Los Angeles. In 1898, the Chinese lion and dragon procession were regarded as one of the most beautiful unit in the City’s Annual La Fiesta Parade. With this initial participation in the parade, the Chinese community was applauded for its contribution to the celebration.
The Parade (starts at 1:00), live music, gourmet food, craft beer garden, cultural artisans, storytelling and amazing crowds will make this a fantastic photographic event.
Best to travel by train to Union Station and walk to Chinatown to enjoy the spectacle. There is a train schedule from OC to LA on the meetup site (see More>Files>Weekend OC/LA Train Schedule). The train leaves at approximately 9:00 am and arrives in LA at 10:30 (leaves 8:15 from Oceanside). For those in Riverside, the train leaves at 7:50 (train 857) where you need to transfer at the Orange Station, where you will join the rest of the group on the 9:17 train. The cost of the train depends on where you get on – approximately $30 rt from San Diego, $25 from Riverside, $20 from OC.
For those who want to drive up (or live in the area), please note parking will be difficult everywhere within the downtown area of LA
