September Sigma Xi meeting

From: Stan W.

Voting has been around for a few thousand years. It seems such a simple concept until one carefully examines what's actually under the hood.
And like all "simple" things ... it's not.
Across the millennia, myriad of voting systems have been introduced, some tried ... and sufficient historical records have been accumulated to provide meaningful analysis of their utility in fact to compare with the theoretical models.
Prof. Saari has been deeply involved in the study and comparison of the entire spectrum of voting options. His Tuesday evening talk will provide us all with a much better understanding of how the systems works, why it works as it does and provide food for thought regarding possible modifications and improvements.
Don't miss this. It couldn't be more timely.
See you on Tuesday!
Dr. Stanley A. White, Ph.D., P.E.
Founding and current President
Orange County Chapter (#296, est. 1965)
Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society (est. 1886)
