Social Cycles host small group cycle adventures for travellers with a social conscience. We host rides in the following countries (currently): Samoa, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Colombia, Mongolia and Iran.
Rides are throughout the year, depending on the season. Asia is almost monthly, whilst Iran, Mongolia, Samoa and Colombia are generally twice a year.
The rides are designed to be 'challenging for beginners', meaning that they are open to everybody. It is more holiday than cycling with regular days off the bike to explore the sites. The pace is generally around 15km/ph moving speed, giving enough time to stop and take photos along the way. Distances vary between countries, but usually about 50-60km on riding days.
We engage with local experts (NGOs) to learn about social issues, challenges and strategies so that we can gain the knowledge to make a positive difference.
In Melbourne, we partner with Melbourne Bicycle Touring Club who organise regular morning/day trips of distances anywhere from 50km up to 120km to some of the most beautiful cycle trails in and around Melbourne. These meetups double up as training days for Social Cycles travel tours but are open and free to everyone! The pace is leisurely and relaxed and we'll often stop for a bite/coffee or even picnic along the way!
