What we’re about
The Utrecht Hub is a social club for Utrecht expats with an international membership that includes both recently relocated Expats and long term residents. We host frequent special events. The primary goal is to meet interesting people and make new friends. If anyone is interested in hosting an event, please let one of the organizers know.
While the group is primarily focused on expats, native Dutch are highly encouraged to join. The more international the merrier!

Winter Landscape in Watercolours - Wet on Wet Technique
❄️ It’s snowing outside, and it’s the perfect time to warm up with paint!
Kick off the year with our first winter workshop in a small group of five only— “Winter Landscape in Watercolours.”
Join us for our first workshop of the year - “Winter Landscape in Watercolours.” This calm, winter-themed watercolour session is an invitation to slow down and paint simple with limited palette, peaceful winter scenes. We’ll focus on the wet-on-wet technique and a limited colour palette to capture soft light, misty skies, and quiet snowy landscapes.

What We’ll Learn & Create
During this workshop, you’ll create two winter paintings while learning how to:
- Use wet-on-wet techniques for soft skies and snowy surfaces
- Mix and pour diluted colours for natural tonal variation
- Create grainy, foggy textures for a quiet winter mood
- Work with a limited palette to keep compositions simple and balanced
I’ll begin with a short demonstration, after which we’ll paint together at a relaxed, easy pace.
Materials :
All artist-grade materials are provided - just bring yourself.
Refreshments
Tea, coffee, and light snacks will be served. (Feel free to bring your own lunch during 15 min break)

Whether you come solo or with friends, you're guaranteed a warm vibe and some easy laughs before the comedy even starts! 🐮

Mad Cow Comedy hosts an afternoon of stand-up comedy performed by various international acts, all performing in English. Utrecht-based comedian, Rachel Morton-Young, introduces a different mix of comedians every 2 weeks, so no two shows are ever the same.
Kartoffel:
Our show now takes place in the Biergarten at Kartoffel, a German-themed restaurant along the historic Oudegracht (only a 10 minutes walk from Utrecht Central Station). The venue has great, affordable food, so considering coming early for lunch, or staying for a bite after the show.

Rachel brings the energy, warmth and cheeky charm Mad Cow Comedy is known for. She’s a British comic living in Utrecht and the mastermind behind these monthly mayhem-filled shows.
