It all began at Fat Guys Burger Bar in the Historic Greenwood District on June 30, 2010. Social Media Day just happened to be when Social Media Tulsa was born. When I moved back home to Tulsa, I was looking for a social media community like the one I was a part of in another city. I didn't see it. So I started it. We grew from a community of meetup goers and social media enthusiasts to a group of amazing people who can spark ideas for your business or project over a drink and a cupcake. Our annual conference, while more organized than a regular meetup surprisingly has the same feel as those early meetup days. With just a lot more smart people sharing their successes at one time.

I'm very happy to have a new generation of social media enthusiasts and influencers take over the planning of monthly meetups. Roxanne Roark and Tina Crouch have taken upon themselves to keep the party going. While I'm busy with projects and of course planning the conference, I hope to make it to as many meetups as possible, but please know, you are in good hands with Tina and Roxanne.

Big thanks to the members who have joined us these last two months for the meetups! We've been learning more about what you guys want from the group and we've had fun figuring it out together!

We've figured out that this group is definitely about helping each other and making a community where everyone is safe to ask each other their thoughts or opinions on social or how to do something for a campaign. We are the group-mind, here to help each other, rather than to compete with one another. Whether you are a business owner, marketer, or just enjoy social media work, we're here to enjoy each other's company and lift each other up.

We're not your normal Tulsa networking group. If you want clients, and that's the only reason you join, you're in the wrong place. We're here to help whoever we can and however we can with our cumulative years of knowledge with social. If that means you meet someone that can help you and you want to hire them, that's cool, but we're not going to pass around business cards at every meeting.

We want everyone to succeed. How can we help you succeed? Join us for a meetup, and let's find out together! We'd love to see you there!

Also.. if you don't have anything to learn, and just really want to hang out (drink,) (eat,) and laugh with a bunch of business/social media/digital/marketing nerds.. we're all about that, too.
