"Sex and Love" a lecture with Prof Digby Tantam

Online event

We all have to choose a path amongst the myriad meanings and injuctions about sex and love. Even not starting out at all is, existentialists would say, choosing a path. Public portrayals of both sex and love become no less deceptive the more they proliferate. Cold facts about sex and love do not convey the haze of emotions, desires, depth, and disappointments that are as much the realities as the facts. Where are these emotions located--in our being with others or isolated within our own being? Another unanswerable question, perhaps but one that I shall at least consider in this survey of everything a psychotherapist should know about sex and love.

Digby is the deputy principle of NSPC and the director of Dilemma Consultancy. He is a psychotherapist, psychologist, and psychiatrist. He has worked in the NHS for over thirty years, and as a University Professor for over twenty. He is currently emeritus professor of psychiatry at the University of Sheffield, and an honorary senior visiting research fellow at the University of Middlesex. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the British Psychological Society, the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.

Digby has written numerous book sand chapters including The Interbrain, Autism Spectrum Disorder through the Life Span, Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health.
