What we're about

Socrates Cafe is an open philosophy discussion group with no political or religious affiliations. We try (hopefully) to have no ideologies or agendas other than the Socratic values of engaged conversation, democracy, and doubt. Attendants write down a philosophical question that's been puzzling them. (e.g. "What is truth?" "Is an equal society possible?" "Does free will exist?") Two of these questions are blindly chosen out of a bag. Each chosen question then gets about an hour of group discussion. This meetup is inspired by the national Socrates Cafe movement ( http://www.philosopher.org/socrates-cafeacute.html ), but doesn't follow their format exactly.
