What we're about

We are a motley crew of dreamers who are unhealthily obsessed with consuming information and changing ourselves and those around us. We love software, tech and anything (from any discipline) that is going to change the world. Apart from our wider focus, we believe that meetups should be a lot of fun where laughing out loud and meeting new people is built in, not an opt-in extra.

At Software Circus meetups you can expect two things:

• A broad range of subjects, perfectly suited to the discerning expert-generalist

• More 'meet'ing and less listening

And since it's circus it has to be fun too of course.

Code of Conduct

Our events are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned, expelled from the event at the discretion of the organisers, and if necessary banned from participating in future events.

Tom Kennes
Self stability: When the Kubernetes Scheduler meets the AWS Auto-Scaler

Nowadays, scaling up to meet demand during peak-hours and scaling down again afterwards is no longer optional. Most tools do this even automatically for you! But with workload becoming more unpredictable and companies looking to double down on their cloud expenditure, improper configuration of scalers and schedulers can become dreadful and not finding the root cause fast enough can be a true horror!
In this talk, I will explain what can happen when the Kubernetes Scheduler and AWS Auto-Scaler are not able to see eye-to-eye and how to find potential solutions!

Dawid Ziolkowski
Hybrid cloud infrastructure: How to NOT do it

In this talk I'll talk about the most common issue we see when companies implement hybrid cloud environments. They all think that some compromises are needed in hybrid environment but you need to be careful what compromises are making. Some of them are actually not compromises - they are simply bad decisions which will lead not only to a countless small issues to build workarounds for but in the most extreme cases can defeat the point of moving to the cloud. I will give you examples from our clients and I'll talk about the ideas of solving these problems on the design phase.
