The London Software Craftsmanship Community (LSCC) was founded with the purpose of improving and mastering the craft of software development. The group has over 4,500 members to date - the largest and most active crafting community in the world.
We want to share the ethos of the LSCC with the Northern tech community and therefore this is a group for local software professionals -regardless of their level of experience- to improve and master their craft. The term 'craftsmanship' applies to the methodology and principles of the movement - this is an inclusive group for all with a coding interest to attend.
We'll be hosting talks, hands-on sessions and all manner of events; we look forward to you joining our community.
• Working, well-crafted software
• Steadily adding value while responding to change
For our third event, let’s talk about test (driven development)!
Test Driven Development (TDD) is an iterative process whereby a software developer writes tests for validating the correctness of their production code, prior to writing any of the code implementing the solution.
This talk aims to introduce the concept of TDD using both theory and practical demonstration; you are welcome to bring your own laptop to the session to follow the practical.
Beginners are welcome to attend with no prior knowledge of TDD; however, it is recommended that you are familiar with a language and a suitable testing framework. The following are some recommended languages and testing frameworks suitable for the session:
C#: NUnit or XUnit
Java: JUnit 4 or JUnit 5
NodeJS: Jest or Mocha (optionally with Chai)
* There are a limited number of places to attend the session. If your plans change, please do alter your RSVP as soon as possible
* We'll serve light bites and refreshments from 6:30pm before starting promptly at 7pm
