OVERVIEW
Postgres is an open-source relational database management system emphasizing extensibility and SQL compliance.
FOCUS
A foreign data wrapper is a library that can communicate with an external data source, hiding the details of connecting to the data source and obtaining data from it.
We examine the key data structures and interfaces that PostgreSQL provides to implement foreign data wrappers for external data sources.
We will be working with PostgreSQL 15dev and most of the code will be written in C++ and SQL on GNU/Linux ArchLinux platform.
INFRASTRUCTURE
We need to setup PostgreSQL on our system/laptop in the first meetup and work with the community in subsequent sessions. We will provide active support for school and university students.
