What we're about

Solihull Book Club

Welcome! This is a book club in the Solihull area. If you love to read and want to meet new people then this would be ideal for you!

The group meets on the second Wednesday of the month to discuss the monthly read. The set up is a friendly, question led book discussion and events are arranged inbetween.

We ask that all attendees read the book before attending a meet, to allow you to be able to participate in the discussion.

Oh, can you also post a profile picture of yourself. No animals or mythical creatures please :)

Please contact us with any questions or for further information.

Updating RSVP's

Taking note of how many other Meetup groups run, we kindly ask that if you RSVP ‘Yes’ to any events and can no longer attend then to please keep your RSVP up to date, making any changes before the event so that we know who to expect and so more members can attend.

Attendance

Once you have joined the group, please make an effort to attend an discussion/social within three months. If you do not attend, you may be removed from the group.

Hope to see you at an event soon!

June Discussion: Normal People By Sally Rooney

Location visible to members

£2.00

*Suggested and hosting by: Jo* Connell and Marianne grow up in the same small town in rural Ireland. The similarities end there; they are from very different worlds. When they both earn places at Trinity College in Dublin, a connection that has grown between them lasts long into the following years. This is an exquisite love story about how a person can change another person's life - a simple yet profound realisation that unfolds beautifully over the course of the novel. It tells us how difficult it is to talk about how we feel and it tells us - blazingly - about cycles of domination, legitimacy and privilege. Alternating menace with overwhelming tenderness, Sally Rooney's second novel breathes fiction with new life.
