SAGES stands for Somatic Approach to Group Engagement and Support, but SAGES is a very appropriate word as well.
This is an embodiment practice group for those interested in learning deep embodiment skills. What do I mean by that? We all “know” what to do. Joy, compassion, gratitude, generosity, forgiveness, and healthy boundaries are universally taught. But I say these are words. When we are feeling good, they work. Other times not so much. The body holds the keys. This group will ground itself in the Polyvagal Theory and Interpersonal Neurobiology. These are recent (last 20 years) discoveries that work to bring unity across many esoteric traditions. It doesn’t matter what background you come from, the wisdom of SAGES is quite simply the wisdom of your body. Your body normally communicates to you and others too fast to notice on a conscious level. We will slow this down and bring awareness to what’s happening now as the group field is facilitated by a gifted Somatic Therapist. We will begin each meeting with about 30 minutes of theoretical knowledge of the experiential nervous system. Then we will practice embodiment in real time interaction. Embodiment is community, is spirituality, is intimacy, is wellness, is living in relationship with your body’s present moment authentic responses.
