Finally, a chance to sing together well known songs of the 60s & 70s.

Sung in a song circle fashion, each person picks a song from a songbook of popular songs from this era (see below) for which our talented guitarist(s) will lead us through the verses. Afterwards, we move to the next person in the circle and repeat!

Fun, lots of opportunity to sing your heart out to songs you long to sing.

Here's a little bit about the organizers:

David Burdick

David has been playing the guitar since 16. He has sung in choirs in Europe and Denmark and is very interested in creating opportunity for community to gather and sing well-loved songs.

Ted Kaye

Ted plays banjo and guitar and loves singing harmony. He lives in NW Portland and leads a couple of music circles. His first inspirations were the New Christy Minstrels.

Here's a partial list of songs we sing:

• All I Have to Do is Dream

• Amie

• Blowin' In The Wind

• The Boxer

• Build Me Up, Buttercup

• California Dreaming

• Fifty Ninth Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)

• For What It's Worth

• Heartache Tonight

• Homeward Bound

• I've Just Seen a Face

• Leaving on a Jet Plane

• Let It Be

• Moon Shadow

• Puff, the Magic Dragon

• Rocky Mountain High

• Take It Easy

• Take Me Home, Country Roads

We also welcome new songs--provided they are well-known, singable, state the guitar chords, and copies of the words are brought for all.

Please see "More" >"Files" and lyrics for full set of songs options thus far.

Hope to see you at this event--held every second Friday at the Friendly House in Portland.
