What we're about
Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. Over 80,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories volunteer time and contribute financial support to community–based and international projects that benefit women and girls. The name, Soroptimist, means "best for women," and that's what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best. Annually, our club provides: A Women’s Opportunity Award grant for a single head-of-household mother returning to school • Violet Richardson Award grant to a 14-17 year girl involved in volunteerism, along with a matching grant to the organization of her choice • Ruby Award: Award grant to a woman involved in outstanding community volunteerism • “Comfort Kits” and “Comfort Kids”—totes and backpacks that contain full-size essentials for women, and women with children who are escaping a violent environment • And so much more!
