What we're about

This is an active group offering Sunday Soulful Nature Walks in Safety around Table Mountain or new trails just outside Cape Town for those who would like to "meetup" with like-minded people. Also on offer are Monthly Group Adventure Activities, Two Yearly Sacred Retreats, Events, Multi Day Hikes & Relaxing Group Weekends Away. These walks are ideal for spiritually minded folk to meet and connect and enjoy a nature experience. “Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

As group safety are paramount, we walk at the pace of the slowest person, (without any pressure). There is always an experienced hiker at the rear to assist anyone who is struggling and ensure no-one is left behind. We have first aid kits as well as at least 2 x two-way radios on all the walks to enable communication between leader and the person covering the rear at all times. Average group sizes are between 18 - 35 people - ensuring safety in numbers

Connecting like-minded people in a sense of community who share similar soulful interests out in nature.

A reminder for those who have not been on these Intuition Nature Walks before, the walks are intended to be of such a nature that we are able to slow down and through our senses, experience some of the wonders that nature has to offer. The slowing down creates an opportunity for re-connection within. Not to mention seeing some of Cape Town’s magical spots. Normally 2 hours of the time allocated is set aside for breaks, taking pictures or sharing in great conversations. This "set out" time out offers a great way to meet and connect with like-minded people who share similar interests.

This nature walking group covers a similar distance to other groups, the difference being the extra time allocated to the walk.

I look forward to you joining us. For more info or directions, contact Iain Macdonald on Tel: 072 3272840 or 021 4628004

This meet-up group forms part my websites http://www.intuitionwalks.com and www.awakening-intuition.com (http://www.awakening-intuitio.com) and the online Facebook section – https://www.facebook.com/groups/intuitionwalks (https://www.facebook.com/groups/intuitionwalks/). I have been offering these walks since 2004 and with a subscriber list in Cape Town of over 1500 people, this group offers a great way to meet like-minded people.

TO VIEW BELOW FOR PAST ORGANIZED WALKS AND WEEKENDS AWAY - https://www.meetup.com/Intuition-Nature-Walks-Cape-Town-Socials-Weekends-Away/events/past/

I also offer regular monthly full day walks, outside of Cape Town that are suitable for most levels of fitness, to explore some of the trails and spectacular nature spots that one does not normally get to hear about. These full day walks are normally less than two hours from Cape Town.

Throughout the year a number of multiday group hikes are organised for those keen to explore some of the wilderness nature reserves near Cape Town

A favourite and highlight are our group weekends away, with about 3-4 organised through the year. These are normally relaxing, self-catering affordable accommodation, a home away from home. Normally for these weekends the accommodation is the base camp and then various activities are offered in the surrounding area. Some of these have included, canoeing trips, nature walks, star gazing, swimming, great food and soulful conversations.

[PLEASE NOTE:]

This is an update of the joining requirements for future hiking weekends away. You will need to have participated in at least THREE of regular Sunday walks before booking for an event. This requirement does not apply to the Saturday adventures or the Weekend Retreats on offer. So those that are keen to join one of these magical weekends away with like-minded Soulful adventurers, we look forward to seeing you in the mountains sooner rather than later.

This structure / qualifying requirement has been put in place, so that I can gauge your fitness levels and determine whether you will be able to cope with the hike on offer. Your joining in on our regular Sunday walks also enhances the sense of connectedness and community as you will know most of the people going. I will in turn have a chance to meet you and you will get to know what is on offer. The weekends away offer a combination of adventure, soulfulness and relaxation and time out is allocated for quiet time. The time out offers time out to slow down a little to enjoy the views and connect with like-minded people.

The day starts with a light breakfast at 07h30 served at the top of the mountain; there is a tarred road on the private property that gives us easy access. Everyone then makes and packs their sandwiches, changes into their wet gear as well as fitting helmets and harnesses. There is a short 15 minute walk of about 400m that we then take to get down to the waterfalls where we will spend the day. There are 6 waterfalls ranging in height from 9 meters up to 45 meters, we abseil down, depending on water levels and group sizes, but you will be guaranteed of a minimum of 6 waterfall abseils. The other waterfalls provide us with scrambles and safety lines to descend. There is a point of no return after the third waterfall abseil and thus this trip is not for the faint hearted as the larger waterfalls, 45m/ 35m/ 30m come shortly thereafter. The second waterfall provides us with a beautiful jump pool with voluntary jump options ranging from 2m/ 3m/ 6m/ 10m/ 12m/ 14m. During the summer months the water temperature is around 18°celsius and there is lots of sunshine in the gorge where you can easily warm up. The total distance covered descending the gorge and the short walk back to the transport is not more than 2km. The Gorge itself drops off about 350m in altitude over a distance of around 900m in distance, thus making it very steep. The trip can be quite tiring both physically and mentally for people, even for those whom are fit as the combination of adrenaline and constantly focusing on balance can take its toll. However the reward for descending the whole gorge is fantastic as it just keeps on getting more beautiful as you make your way down. The general time for being back at the vehicles is around 17h30 and people can thus be back in Cape Town by 18h30. (The time of each trip is dependent on the number of people, weather conditions and individual ability) Return times can only be estimated. ######################### ABOUT FRIXION ADVENTURES ######################### Frixion offers a number of Canyoning, Abseiling and river rafting trips at a variety of venues around the Western Cape. We will be staying in the Stormsriver Village for the night before and after the trail. This trail is booked in advance due to limited availability of this popular nature trail that has limited places. I have also booked the trail and accommodation for our sole used to enhance the group experience. Here’s a link to a video of the Famous Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail – Route Summary - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d_rPVCKJ58 More details view of route - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKMZq8qFdDY Even if you don’t join us on the hike, this video is worth Watching at as it gives a real sense of what can be seen in the area. Tsitsikamma is an old Khoisan word that means ‘place of many waters.’ We like to refer to this wonderful hiking adventure as the Tsitsikamma Mountain Trail. The Tsitsikamma Mountain Trail journeys through extensive patches of extensive patches of indigenous mountain forest and fynbos. Ancient river gorges and abundant rivers and streams provide plentiful swimming opportunities. Beginning in Nature’s Valley and ending 60-km further at either the Storms River Bridge or Village, this six day, unidirectional trail takes hikers through the heart of the Tsitsikamma Mountains. Baboon, vervet monkey, large-spotted genet, bushpig and bushbuck are often encountered along the route and at overnight huts. Leopard, caracal, honey badger and blue duiker also occur, but are seldom seen. The forests provide ideal habitat for lesser seen bird species, such as rameron pigeon, narina trogon, sombre bulbul, forest buzzard, and colourful sunbirds and flycatchers. The fynbos harbours elusive endemics such as Victorins warbler, protea canary and the Cape siskin. I have also included this trail, with Equipment Porterage, so all you will need to carry is your day pack. Your equipment will be transported between the overnight huts on this spectacular hiking trail. The trail distance over the 6 days will be 60km. We will be staying at self-catered accommodation On the night before and after at the Tsitsikamma Backpackers that offers a variety of accommodation option on a first come first serve. They have a range of good accommodation from lovely tented units on platforms, private rooms with en suite and shared bathrooms as well as dorm rooms with en suite bathrooms. Here you can see a video link of the what’s on offer - https://youtu.be/Jon8zfeNn4g This four stars accredited backpacker’s offers double, dorm rooms and glamping tented units in a indigenous garden setting. Daily breakfast and dinner is served with vegetarian options. Our bar area is the perfect place to sit back and relax after an adventure filled day The highlight of this trail will be that we won’t have to carry any backpacks apart from a day pack. I have arranged that all our weekend away luggage and equipment will be ported to each accommodation stay. The reason why this booked in advance is to secure the limited accommodation on the trail, as the public holiday dates book out first for 2020 ######################### Have you heard of the term Slack packing? Slackpacking entails transport of your bags and heavy equipment to the destination, leaving you free to carry a light day pack only. This allows more people, who do not want to carry a heavy backpack for several days, to participate in the route. You will also be able to cater for a more varied and luxurious menu than two minute noodles and cheese wedges. This weekend is slack-packing at its finest in one of my favourite areas ######################### Hiking Trail Offering Overnight Accommodation The Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail is a hiking trail offering comfortable overnight accommodation.
