What we're about

This is an active group offering Sunday Soulful Nature Walks in Safety around Table Mountain or new trails just outside Cape Town for those who would like to "meetup" with like-minded people. Also on offer are Monthly Group Adventure Activities, Two Yearly Sacred Retreats, Events, Multi Day Hikes & Relaxing Group Weekends Away. These walks are ideal for spiritually minded folk to meet and connect and enjoy a nature experience. “Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

As group safety are paramount, we walk at the pace of the slowest person, (without any pressure). There is always an experienced hiker at the rear to assist anyone who is struggling and ensure no-one is left behind. We have first aid kits as well as at least 2 x two-way radios on all the walks to enable communication between leader and the person covering the rear at all times. Average group sizes are between 18 - 35 people - ensuring safety in numbers

Connecting like-minded people in a sense of community who share similar soulful interests out in nature.

A reminder for those who have not been on these Intuition Nature Walks before, the walks are intended to be of such a nature that we are able to slow down and through our senses, experience some of the wonders that nature has to offer. The slowing down creates an opportunity for re-connection within. Not to mention seeing some of Cape Town’s magical spots. Normally 2 hours of the time allocated is set aside for breaks, taking pictures or sharing in great conversations. This "set out" time out offers a great way to meet and connect with like-minded people who share similar interests.

This nature walking group covers a similar distance to other groups, the difference being the extra time allocated to the walk.

I look forward to you joining us. For more info or directions, contact Iain Macdonald on Tel: 072 3272840 or 021 4628004

This meet-up group forms part my websites http://www.intuitionwalks.com and www.awakening-intuition.com (http://www.awakening-intuitio.com) and the online Facebook section – https://www.facebook.com/groups/intuitionwalks (https://www.facebook.com/groups/intuitionwalks/). I have been offering these walks since 2004 and with a subscriber list in Cape Town of over 1500 people, this group offers a great way to meet like-minded people.

TO VIEW BELOW FOR PAST ORGANIZED WALKS AND WEEKENDS AWAY - https://www.meetup.com/Intuition-Nature-Walks-Cape-Town-Socials-Weekends-Away/events/past/

I also offer regular monthly full day walks, outside of Cape Town that are suitable for most levels of fitness, to explore some of the trails and spectacular nature spots that one does not normally get to hear about. These full day walks are normally less than two hours from Cape Town.

Throughout the year a number of multiday group hikes are organised for those keen to explore some of the wilderness nature reserves near Cape Town

A favourite and highlight are our group weekends away, with about 3-4 organised through the year. These are normally relaxing, self-catering affordable accommodation, a home away from home. Normally for these weekends the accommodation is the base camp and then various activities are offered in the surrounding area. Some of these have included, canoeing trips, nature walks, star gazing, swimming, great food and soulful conversations.

[PLEASE NOTE:]

This is an update of the joining requirements for future hiking weekends away. You will need to have participated in at least THREE of regular Sunday walks before booking for an event. This requirement does not apply to the Saturday adventures or the Weekend Retreats on offer. So those that are keen to join one of these magical weekends away with like-minded Soulful adventurers, we look forward to seeing you in the mountains sooner rather than later.

This structure / qualifying requirement has been put in place, so that I can gauge your fitness levels and determine whether you will be able to cope with the hike on offer. Your joining in on our regular Sunday walks also enhances the sense of connectedness and community as you will know most of the people going. I will in turn have a chance to meet you and you will get to know what is on offer. The weekends away offer a combination of adventure, soulfulness and relaxation and time out is allocated for quiet time. The time out offers time out to slow down a little to enjoy the views and connect with like-minded people.

After the event we will meet up for coffee / tea in Simons Town ######################### Roman Rock Lighthouse is a lighthouse in False Bay, near Simon's Town. It is the only lighthouse in South Africa built on a single rock. The light was first exhibited on 16 September 1861. The light was electrified in 1992 at the request of the South African Navy http://www.lighthouses.co.za/lighthouses/Tower.asp?TN=Roman%20Rock Probably one of the most interesting lighthouses in Southern Africa is Roman Rock, which is situated in False Bay at the entrance to the historical naval harbour of Simons Town. But what makes this lighthouse so interesting is the fact that it is the only lighthouse on our coast to have been erected on a single rock, which is exposed at low water, while at high tide is covered completely, making for very primitive living conditions to any keeper. The lighthouse owes its existence to a Joseph Nourse Commodore, Royal Navy, Simons Town who when writing to the Secretary-General of the Admiralty in London, stressed the importance of the safety of His Majestys ships coming into the anchor at Simons Bay at night. But the proposed site for this lighthouse was not always to be Roman Rock, and from 1823 to 1853, three or four other possible sites were suggested. But in the end it was Roman Rock who won, despite the great costs of erecting it on this site. It took four years to complete the installation of the prefabricated cast iron tower, which was sent out from England. But on the 16 September 1861 the Roman Rock lighthouse shone its first light, and still remains today having defied the South-East gales and surging seas which have submerged it every summer for 142 years. In 1919, a fully automatic lighting system was installed and since then no lightkeepers have been stationed at this watery and inhospitable site which keeps watch over the waters of False Bay, guiding home the Naval ships to their harbour. ######################### @ -- Itinerary for the trip • Meet at Pisces Divers at 09h00 • Collect equipment, sign indemnities • Briefing for tour • Head down to Simons Town harbour @10h00 • Board the boat at Simons Town Pier • Proceed to Cape Point, Partridge Point (seal snorkel or surface viewing) and Roman Rock Lighthouse • Return to Pisces Divers at roughly 13h00 for hot showers, coffee and lunch @ -- What to bring • Towel • Warm Jacket • Bathing suit / Swimming costume • Sunblock • Camera • Own dive equipment if preferred @ -- What is included • Dive / Snorkel Equipment • Marine Protected Area permit for diving in protected waters. • Light Lunch • Drinks @ --What is excluded • Transport to Pisces Divers (can be arranged) • Camera ######################### DIRECTIONS ######################### FROM CAPE TOWN - Driving Directions from Cape Town City Centre: Meetup Location - Address: Goods Shed, Main Road Simon’s Town, Cape Town.
