What we're about

This is an active group offering Sunday Soulful Nature Walks in Safety around Table Mountain or new trails just outside Cape Town for those who would like to "meetup" with like-minded people. Also on offer are Monthly Group Adventure Activities, Two Yearly Sacred Retreats, Events, Multi Day Hikes & Relaxing Group Weekends Away. These walks are ideal for spiritually minded folk to meet and connect and enjoy a nature experience. “Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

As group safety are paramount, we walk at the pace of the slowest person, (without any pressure). There is always an experienced hiker at the rear to assist anyone who is struggling and ensure no-one is left behind. We have first aid kits as well as at least 2 x two-way radios on all the walks to enable communication between leader and the person covering the rear at all times. Average group sizes are between 18 - 35 people - ensuring safety in numbers

Connecting like-minded people in a sense of community who share similar soulful interests out in nature.

A reminder for those who have not been on these Intuition Nature Walks before, the walks are intended to be of such a nature that we are able to slow down and through our senses, experience some of the wonders that nature has to offer. The slowing down creates an opportunity for re-connection within. Not to mention seeing some of Cape Town’s magical spots. Normally 2 hours of the time allocated is set aside for breaks, taking pictures or sharing in great conversations. This "set out" time out offers a great way to meet and connect with like-minded people who share similar interests.

This nature walking group covers a similar distance to other groups, the difference being the extra time allocated to the walk.

I look forward to you joining us. For more info or directions, contact Iain Macdonald on Tel: 072 3272840 or 021 4628004

This meet-up group forms part my websites http://www.intuitionwalks.com and www.awakening-intuition.com (http://www.awakening-intuitio.com) and the online Facebook section – https://www.facebook.com/groups/intuitionwalks (https://www.facebook.com/groups/intuitionwalks/). I have been offering these walks since 2004 and with a subscriber list in Cape Town of over 1500 people, this group offers a great way to meet like-minded people.

TO VIEW BELOW FOR PAST ORGANIZED WALKS AND WEEKENDS AWAY - https://www.meetup.com/Intuition-Nature-Walks-Cape-Town-Socials-Weekends-Away/events/past/

I also offer regular monthly full day walks, outside of Cape Town that are suitable for most levels of fitness, to explore some of the trails and spectacular nature spots that one does not normally get to hear about. These full day walks are normally less than two hours from Cape Town.

Throughout the year a number of multiday group hikes are organised for those keen to explore some of the wilderness nature reserves near Cape Town

A favourite and highlight are our group weekends away, with about 3-4 organised through the year. These are normally relaxing, self-catering affordable accommodation, a home away from home. Normally for these weekends the accommodation is the base camp and then various activities are offered in the surrounding area. Some of these have included, canoeing trips, nature walks, star gazing, swimming, great food and soulful conversations.

[PLEASE NOTE:]

This is an update of the joining requirements for future hiking weekends away. You will need to have participated in at least THREE of regular Sunday walks before booking for an event. This requirement does not apply to the Saturday adventures or the Weekend Retreats on offer. So those that are keen to join one of these magical weekends away with like-minded Soulful adventurers, we look forward to seeing you in the mountains sooner rather than later.

This structure / qualifying requirement has been put in place, so that I can gauge your fitness levels and determine whether you will be able to cope with the hike on offer. Your joining in on our regular Sunday walks also enhances the sense of connectedness and community as you will know most of the people going. I will in turn have a chance to meet you and you will get to know what is on offer. The weekends away offer a combination of adventure, soulfulness and relaxation and time out is allocated for quiet time. The time out offers time out to slow down a little to enjoy the views and connect with like-minded people.

A Rain Coat should be brought along on all hikes no matter the weather conditions, as this also acts as a windbreaker. Weather conditions can change without warning. It often happens that the area you driving from, the weather is quite different to where we are hiking on the day. What to wear on the hike. Comfortable hiking clothes (trousers / shorts). In winter long pants are preferable due to the change of temperatures. Jersey or fleecy top. As the weather often heats up during the day, it is good to wear clothes that you can layer on or off. The only conditions that affect this is if there is a forecast of rain on the day of the walk. 5 x Spots Left - Soulful Pat Busch Nature Reserve & Reserve Circular Trail

Please can you share - [Latest Update 13 Going – 5 places left] - OPEN TO ALL – Soulful Friday 28th to 30th June 2019 – Pat Busch Nature Reserve and Fynbos Reserve Circular Trail. Pat Busch Nature Reserve is spectacular private reserve made up of 2000ha of mountain fynbos with wooded streams & farm dams for swimming & hiking for outdoor enthusiasts, 100 plus species of birds, and spectacular indigenous fauna & flora. For this weekend away we will be doing the complete trail of 10.5km, as they have now linked up the three trails. We have been to the reserve a few times before, but we have never had the opportunity to complete the circuit route. I am looking forward to the spectacular views. With the trails being up upgraded and connected we will cover the three combined trails, including adding in extra time to explore more of the indigenous forest that links Middelrug and Karin Trails. This is also the first available weekend away that is not fully booked, as all the weekend are fully blocked out due to its popularity as a wedding venue. Certainly an weekend away not to be missed. Please note that these on site activities are offered exclusively to guests staying overnight and are not open to the general public or to day visitors. Pat Busch Nature Reserve is made up of 2000ha of spectacular mountain fynbos with wooded streams & farm dams for swimming & hiking for outdoor enthusiasts, 100 plus species of birds, and spectacular indigenous fauna & flora. The reserve forms part of the Klaasvoogds West foothills in the Langeberg Mountains, 15km between the towns of Robertson & Ashton. Pat Busch Mountain Reserve is surrounded by high mountains at the end of a country road and if we are lucky as it will be in winter, there might even snow on the higher mountain peaks. This venue is just perfect for winter with its indoor cozy lounge and large fire place. It’s just perfect for a mid-winter hike get-away ######################### Soulful Nature Walks Group Weekend Away Pictures below from July 2017 https://www.facebook.com/iain.awakeningintuition/media_set?set=a.10154755097840969&type=3 ######################### "VERY IMPORTANT" -- Please email first or call me directly (Do not just mark yourself as going on Facebook / Meetup) to check for availability and to book on - [masked] or for more info, contact Iain Macdonald on Tel:[masked] or[masked] - When making a booking, please can you send me your cell number, email address, name & surname and number of people going. You can also send me a message on "whatsapp" Wherever possible we will share the Transport in getting there. #################### WHAT IS ON OFFER #################### The Highlight of the weekend away will certainly be the stunning day walk on the Saturday, where the route promises to offer some stunning views of the reserve, waterfalls on route and the Langeberge. On the Sunday we will do a shorter trail on the section no covered up to one of the tranquil river pools that offer’s some awesome views down towards to the dam. Our Hike Starts on the Middelrug Trail. Middelrug starts at the swimming dam on Berg-en-Dal farm. Climb up onto the dam wall and walk along its length to the far left-hand side. Once in the far left corner on top of the dam wall, turn left (away from the dam) and walk along the side of the mountain. Look for the start of the trail a few meters on, it turns sharply to the right and goes up the side of the mountain. This trail goes up along the ridge of the spur and promises spectacular views and sunshine. This trail should take 2 hours and you must return along the same route. It is quite steep but not difficult to walk. Take plenty of water in summer as you do not cross any rivers. If you know your fynbos you may be able to find an endangered Erika variety which is only found on our farm. Thought to have become extinct, several years ago a veldfire (started by lightning) ravaged this spur and subsequently The connecting sections between The Middelrug trail and the Karin Trail is a stunning Indigenous Forest Our trail joins onto the Karin Trail Named after Karin Busch, this trail is both beautiful and rewarding and it is one of our most popular trails. It follows the mountain streams along shaded & wooded valleys. Tree ferns, rocks and the gurgling stream are your companions. We recommend this delightfully cool hike during the summer months. It starts on Bergen- Dal behind the big dam, follow the road and take the left fork up the valley, this is Karin Trail and it takes you to behind Tafelberg. Our Trail then joins the Hermit Ridge Trail (goes West, then North & links up with So named after the legend of an old hermit who used to live in the Langeberg Mountains. Apparently he horded a fortune in Kruger Rands and the secret of this treasure was lost when he died. Over the decades the exact position of his mountain home was lost, along with his treasure. In the 1980’s when we cleared the dense vegetation to make our hiking trails we found several exotic lemon trees in the middle of the fynbos forest at the foot of Hermit’s Ridge Trail. Apparently no human had been there in decades! We can only assume that this was the source of the Hermits vitamin C. Hermit’s Ridge Trail starts at the gate near Oak Cottage on Bergendal. This below section will be done in reverse from the end of the Karin Trail. As you go through the gate, turn sharp left and go through the second gate onto the meadow. Walk towards the Willow Trees at the stream in the middle of the meadow. Hop across the stream and then turn sharp right. Follow the trail through the Acacia forest, then along the fence to rise up through & above the Poplar Forest. Here the trail winds steeply up the side of the ridge, it is slow going and steep, take your time, once on top the views are spectacular and the going is easier. Follow the top of the ridge travelling North and to the right of Tafelberg. You will link up with Karin Trail which turns right & zigzags steeply down the side of the mountain to the Kloof & stream below. OR, follow the trail West skirting behind Tafelberg and at the foot of the Langeberg to join up with Teebos Trail on Bergplaas farm. So you have the option of joining any of the other trails, or you can turn around. This will be a 3 day / 2 night away trip, starting on the Friday from 2pm, with arrival no later than 3pm if you are coming from work for the start of the event and our opening circle. We will be ending on Sunday afternoon from 2.30pm for our closing circle get together and sharing. Please check that you can commit to these times before joining. If you can, try and take Friday off to make most of a long weekend. ##################### PLEASE NOTE: -------------------- There are only two requirements to join this event. One of the highlights will certainly be the delicious 3 x Course midyear Christmas dinner, prepared by Inge a regular on the walks, a tradition that dates back to 2010 ;-) at various venues. Yes there are, but not what most would consider amazing. If possible it is suggested that you make use of toilet facilities before leaving your point of departure or at a petrol station that you pass on your way here @ What kind of bikes will you be riding? You will be riding 250cc Suzuki LTZ 250 Quad bikes. They are Semi - Automatic quad bikes that allow you to drive over every possible dune in the facility with ease, with the only input the driver needs to put in is gas, brakes and steer. @ Are the bikes difficult to ride? The bikes are very stable and make it easy for even first time riders who usually need only 10 minutes on the quad bike to learn how to control it. We cater the course according to the skill of the combined group and drive at the pace that suits the abilities shown by the riders. ######################### DIRECTIONS FROM CAPE TOWN - Driving Directions from Cape Town City Centre: A map and more detailed directions will be sent out closer to the time ;-) ######################### About Iain Macdonald and your Host for this Soulful Weekend Away I have a great passion for personal growth, spiritual development and holistic living.
