Visual Studio Mobile Center and Developer Showcase
Details
Mobile app development has been growing very quickly in the last few years. New professional opportunities arise for app developers and, in many cases, disruptive apps change the way app users used to understand things and end up creating new needs. While fun and rewarding, app development requires several steps that last during the life of the app. Once the app is written, it needs to continuously be improved based on new ideas or customer feedback, adapt the app to the new devices and technologies, understanding the user base to choose and prioritize the right set of features, etc. Mobile Center brings together multiple services, commonly used by mobile developers, into a single, integrated product. You can build, test, distribute, and monitor your mobile apps and easily add backend cloud services to scale your app to millions of users on demand. Bring your apps written in any language to Visual Studio Mobile Center’s cloud and lifecycle services and you’ll get faster release cycles, higher-quality apps, and the time and data to focus on what users want.
Our speaker will be Blanca Delgado and currently works as a Program Manager at Microsoft in Redmond, WA. She graduated from Purdue University with a Master degree on Electrical and Computer Engineering, while working as a Research Assistant. As a researcher, she has worked on the development of algorithms to solve several image and video processing problems such as the re-identification of subjects in video surveillance feeds.
Aside from research and classes, she got involved in hackathons and events where she started learning more about app development and the latest technologies. Blanca really enjoyed being in the development side as well as understanding the customer’s needs and working to improve their experience. This is why she decided to start a Program Management role, where she has the chance to be close to the technology and software development as well as being in touch with the end customer and understand their needs and provide solutions.

The second half of our meetup will be dedicated to our first developer Showcase of the year. An informal discussion of what other developers have been working on. You can see the list of demos or sign up to speak here (https://www.meetup.com/South-Florida-Xamarin-User-Group/messages/boards/thread/50512563/).
