Talk #1: Spinning Up Big Data in the Cloud

The power of the cloud is enabling many organizations to transform how they do business by offering scale and new ways of solving problems. This new way of working applies to Big Data and Hadoop in a big way. Join us as we discuss how we can utilize the cloud to solve Big Data problems. We will review the various options available for Big Data in the Cloud, discuss new cloud specific capabilities, and will deploy a Cloudera cluster onto the Azure cloud platform.

Speaker #1: Todd Walker manages the Cincinnati Data Solutions practice for Cardinal Solutions. He has over 15 years of IT experience, with the last 12 focused on data and business intelligence in multiple roles including Big Data architecture.

Talk #2: Code Once, Run Anywhere

Distance hikers often develop an intuitive feel for the ground under their feet, each step effortlessly guiding them over difficult terrain. At first, there is focus and effort in every step, but with practice and time hiking becomes automatic. Despite ten years in, this is not so with Hadoop. Navigating the Hadoop trail requires as much effort and attention as day one, but forging this path can be a lot easier. In this presentation, we’ll talk cloud technology trends and how to hike the Hadoop trail without requiring data survivalist skills.

Speaker #2: Ted Coyle is a technologist with a passion for data and more than a few years of wide ranging cross-industry and public sector experience. When not hiking, Ted works as a CDAP technology evangelist at Cask Data.

Talk #3: Catalog and Manage All Enterprise Data Assets to Maximize the Value of Your Data.

Data is becoming the lifeblood of our economy, and data-driven companies are turning their data assets into revenue and profits. The first step to managing your data as an enterprise asset is to take inventory of it, assess its value, and maximize its use—just like you do other significant capital and operational investments.

Learn how Informatica provides a machine-learning based discovery engine to collect data assets across the enterprise while increasing the understanding of those data assets through a graph-based enterprise information catalog and provides pre-built data preparation facilities to get more analysts, data scientist and developers part of the data process.

Speaker #3: Michael Tomechak is a domain subject expert at Informatica for Big Data Technologies. He is an data professional and evangelist for helping organizations become data ready enterprises, which require the ability to have safe, clean, reliable data to create innovation for their customers and ecosystems.

Throughout his career over 25 year career, he has created data solutions within focus areas of Big Data & Analytics, Architecture, Machine Learning and Statistical Algorithms.
