If you are curious about mindfulness, meditation or just want to find some calm and peace of mind, this is a drop-in class for people who are interested in learning how to practice mindfulness meditation. We will meet to learn about and practice mindfulness meditation and create a supportive community with other practitioners.
This meetup is suitable for anyone who would like to learn and/or be part of a meditation group. We practice being present with whatever arises in each moment and without judgment. We'll learn to be patient, loving and kind with ourselves. The practice is quite simple really, and can be profoundly deep; it is about increasing our awareness of ourselves, thoughts, feelings and emotions and the world around us while working on our judgements and expanding our sense of compassion.
Our lives are filled with so much information, busyness and distraction that we sometimes start feeling lost and overwhelmed. Creating a Mindfulness practice can help us to slow down, so that we can notice that the conditions for happiness are already present.
The instructor, Robyn Beckman, completed the Mindfulness Teacher Training Certification Program through Mindfulness Northwest in June 2018. She has also completed the foundational training to lead the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course through the Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute at UC San Diego. She has been teaching mindfulness meditation classes in Gig Harbor, Port Orchard, University Place and online since November 2015.
