October SW Java Meetup

Details
This is shaping up to be a cracker.
October's Meetup, we are partnering with Bristol's Scott Logic again who are not only providing us with a talk but also putting us up (and putting up with us!) at their offices and supplying the beers and pizzas! Thank you!!
Now, back to the tech talks:
We welcome Edson Yanaga all the way from the States. He is currently Director of Developer Experience at Red Hat, as well as a Java Champion and Microsoft MVP. His talk, which will be 100% live coding is on the below:
Coding That Sparks Joy With Quarkus
Does your heart beat faster when you’re developing your Java application? Does it spark joy when you’re coding? If not, then it’s time to leave some old ways behind.
Join us on this live coding session and get familiar with Quarkus. You’ll learn to love how your old and new favorite APIs will start in a matter of milliseconds and consume tiny amounts of memory. Hot reload capabilities for development will give you instant sparks of joy!

Next up is Scott Logic's Senior Developer Magnus Smith. He has been developing in Java for the last 15 years, grappling with the complexity of enterprise applications in the Financial, Local Government and Publishing industries.
His talk will be focused on "Easier Functional Programming in Java with VAVR"
What is functional programming? How do we benefit? Is it possible to do functional programming in Java or do you need a functional language?
These are questions I will answer by introducing VAVR a functional library for Java that aims to make programming in a functional style easier.
--
As always, we will be giving away one Jetbrains IntelliJ license to one lucky winner.
Spaces will be limited in this Meetup, so please RSVP to confirm your spot. This one is not to be missed!
See you there!
Inness & Matthew
