What we're about

Lets talk test! This group provides a meeting place and regular events in and around the Bristol area for anyone involved in, or with an interest in Test /QA. Come to meet fellow testers and share stories and experiences about tools and techniques which may, or may not, have solved testing problems. This is a place of learning, where live demonstrations of tools will be given and talks and knowledge shared.

The group is open to all, whatever your skill set or level of experience. It's a great way to get to know other people and learn something new. Oh and did we mention we have pizza and beer 🍕🍺

Come along learn, network and have a good time! We are a very friendly bunch!

If you would like to speak at one of our meetups, this could be either a short 5-10 minute talk or a full blown presentation - We would love to hear from you, we're always on the look out for new speakers!

We have a slack group so feel free to join us for between meetup chit chat https://join.slack.com/t/southwesttest/shared_invite/enQtNTIwOTY4NTE2OTk0LTZmYmE4YTUyNGY0Mzc0ZmMxMTBhZDI2YzM0MjUwNDRjNTg4ZmE1NzlkNzkwY2Q2N2M1YTNlNzIyMWU4YTNmYTk

We also have a meet up Twitter account ( https://twitter.com/south_west_test ) so please do follow us if you use that platform and drop us a message if you need to get in touch..

#33 Lets talk about Playwright!

Needs a location

We are back for 2022 and what we hope will be the last online meetup before we get a chance to meet in person again 🍕🍺

We are kicking off the New Year with a meetup based around Playwright as well as another Amazon voucher giveaway courtesy of the folk at SR2 - Socially Responsible Recruitment.

In case you aren’t aware, it's the new kid on the block when it comes to the world of Automation Testing!

For as long as I can remember, Selenium had been the most prominent automation tool for testing and automation, but, as the web transformed, quality standards raised a new generation of frameworks emerged. Recently, we have seen a shift to tools like Cypress, and, in recent times I’ve seen more and more companies switching to Playwright! Created by Microsoft, Playwright is an open source browser automation framework that allows you to automate tests in Chromium, Webkit, and Firefox browsers

So,what exactly is it, why might you choose to use it and how can you get started?

We welcome two awesome speakers to tell us all we need to know!

Shrikant Nanda – An Introduction to Playwright
What is Playwright and why we chose to use it. In this talk Shrikant will talk us through what Playwright is and why his company chose to use it over other tools.

Chris Usher – “Zero* to Hero with Playwright in GitHub Actions”

Chris is a long time attendee of Test Talks Wales and South West Test, so it great to welcome him to our speaker family. Chris is going to talk us through getting started with Playwright and getting a first test running in CI.

The meetup will be hosted on Crowdcast, and a link will be shared nearer the time.
If you aren't already part of the South West Test slack community, don't forget to join our group for in-between meetup chat 💬
