What we're about

Offering group walks throughout South Wales and beyond. Many of the walks will be in mountain and upland terrain, but there will also be river walks and the occasional coastal path or two. The aim of the walks is to get you out walking in a group, so you feel confident and safe to be in the hills. I also like to throw in some challenging walks and lots of off-path terrain, for those who want to push their fitness.

The ethos behind this group is being mindful in the mountains. I love this environment and want to look after it. This means only smaller group sizes to limit our impact on the environment, a leave no trace policy and I'll probably share with you lots of factoids on the landscape as we go.

The walks will be low cost and cover the expense and time of running a Meetup site, memberships to OS maps and other resources, such as training.

As adults, you sign up to a walk accepting the potential hazards of walking into the mountains. You consent to be responsible and liable for ensuring your own safety and listening to instruction when necessary.

For your reassurance: I have completed many hiking challenges and walked, scrambled and climbed various mountains throughout Britain and the world for the last 20 years. I regularly attend mountaineering training courses to keep my skills fresh, and I'm an active member of the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) and the Mountain Training Association, who train and set standards for mountain professionals in the UK, I've been working with them on my ML training since 2017. I'm also a qualified outdoor first aider. On each walk I will take with me spare clothing for members, maps and other navigation equipment, first aid kit, emergency shelter, and a host of other safety supplies.

We have other walk leaders with a wealth of experience too, check out their profiles on the walks they lead. If you are interested in leading some walks for us, and have a particular type of walk or area that you like to cover, send me a message.

I look forward to walking with you all.
