Should we change our name to the Maine Sea Kayaking Network?

Does the name the "Southern Maine Sea Kayaking Network" really capture who we are? It seems to me that the small but feisty group that created us more than 2 decades ago was appropriately modest in their approach. Since that time, however, the group has expanded and now encompasses members from all over the state of Maine as well as other states. We schedule many (most?) paddles north of Casco Bay and don't seem limited in any way to southern Maine. We are far and away the largest sea kayaking group in Maine and the most active. It seems to me that the "Southern" part of our name is an anachronism and might cause some potential members to over look us when seeking a kayaking group. More members means more trips and that's a good thing. I think we could refer to ourselves generally as "The Network" or "The Kayak Network". The Board has no plans or particular interest in changing the name but I believe we should at least get the members feeling about this. Jim Vicenzi Member
