- Polish your Pitch!!
Get ready for our annual Crab Pot Pitch Competition coming up in May! Join us on March 14th to polish your pitch and get feedback from experts. Not ready to pitch? Come learn from your peers! Hear pitches and listen to the feedback and advice they receive to help you prepare for your next pitch. To sign up to deliver your practice pitch to our panel, email [masked]. But sign up quick! We’ll take the first eight entrepreneurs. We’ll get started with 10 minutes of pitch instruction then move right into practice pitching. 8 entrepreneurs will pitch to a panel that will provide (gentle but pointed) feedback on the spot. Pitchers will have a total of 6 minutes to both pitch and receive feedback (and yes, we use a timer!) Please prepare a pitch that leaves you time for feedback! As always, SMIT kicks off at 6PM with 30 minutes of networking. We’ll have an hour of programming then more time to network or follow-up with panel members one-on-one. Meet our panel: Brianna Bowling – Brianna is the founder and past President of Zekiah Technologies, a software engineering and geospatial service firm. In 2018, she stepped down as President of Zekiah to join their Board of Directors and began consulting with other small business owners helping them grow their business and/or eventually exit. A 1992 graduate of Goucher College, Brianna is an active member in her community. She is a novel writer, horse owner, hospital board member, lector and choir member, and business consultant. Wynne Briscoe - Wynne is the St. Mary's County SBDC Business Counselor and is also a manufacturer. She was the 2nd certified organic manufacturer in the state and has an organic skin products shop in St. Mary's. She has helped countless clients grow their businesses and has been part of the SMIT planning team for 2 years. Peg Duchesne (pronounced Du-Shane) is a real “people person.” She is a seasoned networker who loves to help businesses and individuals craft their unique message and deliver it to their market. She’s a marketing strategist and communications consultant, a “message therapist,” some might say. Peg comes from a background in the legal field and has a strong sense of service. She served over sixteen years in the Army Reserves and sits on the Board of Trustees for St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Peg is a valuable resource for anyone attempting to learn and grow their business. Kim Mozingo – Kim is founder and Managing Partner of GaiaWrx - a firm focused on developing regional economies through ecosystem building and IP commercialization. Kim has been part of the SMIT Team since 2013, on the board since its creation July 2018. Kim has been pitch coaching for about 5 years now and for 4 out of the last 5 Crab Pot pitch competitions, teams she has coached have come in 1st or 2nd place.
