Barcelona Spark Meetup kickoff (Telefónica I+D)

Hola a todos, empezamos ya con la primera reunión del Barcelona Spark Meetup!. ¿Conoces Apache Spark (http://spark.apache.org/), uno de los proyectos Big Data más activos? ? Quieres conocer más? Apúntate a este grupo interdisciplinar y mantente al día de los avances en este campo. Nuestro Kick-Off meeting contará con Daniel Tapiador e Ignacio Blasco (Development Lead and Senior Development at Telefonica I+D) que nos hablaran acerca de Experiences with Spark at Telefónica (conferencia en Castellano/Catalán) y Jordi Torres (http://www.JordiTorres.eu) (Barcelona Supercomputing Center (http://www.bsc.es/autonomic)) que nos explicará los objetivos y oportunidades del grupo así como el roadmap previsto. Después de la visita empezaremos con el kickoff a las 7 en el Campus Nord de la UPC. Os esperamos a todos, y como es costumbre en estos eventos meetup, compartiremos unas cervezas.

we are pleased to announce the Barcelona Spark Meetup kickoff! Have you ever heard about Spark? Apache Spark (http://spark.apache.org/) has quickly grown to be one of the most active projects in big data, with more contributors in the past year than Hadoop. Do you have any idea what it is used for and what kind of problems it can solve? Don’t hesitate and drop by our meetup!

We are an interdisciplinar group of people interested in many different fields, including the emerging Big Data world and siblings. This will be an special occasion.

Our Kick-Off meeting will feature Daniel Tapiador and Ignacio Blasco (Development Lead and Senior Development at Telefonica I+D)with the talk Experiences with Spark at Telefónica (in Spanish) and Jordi Torres (http://www.JordiTorres.eu) (Barcelona Supercomputing Center (http://www.bsc.es/autonomic)) presenting the opportunities and goals of this group.

Our main aim as group is to get together with people interested in this technology, hear about your related projects and have a nice time all together.

Thursday 12th June, 19:00 hours: After the supercomputer visit we’ll proceed with the meetup kickoff.
