Romantic Futures

Join us for a presentation from two members of a design fiction group that will explore the future of love and romance.

We're excited to start off the new year with much love and a new edition of Speculative Futures Berlin. Join us for a Valentine’s Eve special—a presentation with the design fiction group N O R M A L S, who will discuss future relationships and lead a short workshop.

This edition of Speculative Futures will be a bit more participatory than previous iterations, kicking off with a “design fiction” and “future fishing” session lead by N O R M A L S, it will move into a history of romantic relationships and a look in to their far future. The group will also provide a sneak preview of their upcoming release—a hybrid creation that’s part dating simulation and part visual novel, promising a unique experience of romantic desperation that fits in the palm your hand. The evening will close with a Q&A and “speculative speed-dating” session.

N O R M A L S is a Berlin and Paris-based creative collective situated at the intersection of design and fiction. A mix of the visual, literary, prototypical, and functional, their output creates a rich narrative universe and to some, an anticipated future. The collective has been noted for its work on augmented reality fashion, shown internationally from the NY Fashion Week, to the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, speculative public talks, and an eponymous graphic novel series distributed worldwide.

The event is free of charge. Snacks and beverages will be provided (w/ a recommended donation for beers).
