We are the Vienna chapter of Speculative Futures, an international meetup community that focuses on work and practice in the fields of Speculative and Critical Design, Design Fiction, Futures Studies, and Strategic Foresight.
This group is for everyone interested and passionate about researching, understanding and designing the “next to come”. We want to provide a space for discussions about future challenges and opportunities, and how we can envision, design, build and implement alternative futures. With increasing risks, uncertainties and complexities that society faces now, we believe it is important to strategically use the future as inspiration to make decisions today to build a better tomorrow.
We will host speakers, practitioners, teachers, students, and other professionals who will talk about their work and methods in the fields of Speculative and Critical Design, Design Fiction, Futures Studies, and Strategic Foresight. Each event will be dedicated to a different topic and consists of a short lecture or presentation followed by a workshop and get-together.
