Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender

We come here together

with the common intention

of surrendering everything as it arises

in the name of Doc Hawkins’ teachings

on the pathway to God through Truth.

Spiritual work: The best thing to do is not work at it,

because it’s more like floating in air than striving.

It’s more like letting one’s self go

to become that which You are,

and you just stop resisting it.

Enlightenment is not something that occurs

somewhere in the future...

It's what Is right this instant.

As one lets go resisting it...

It’s being resisted because we are trying to control the moment.

So if we let go trying to control our experience of the moment,

constantly surrendering it...

so you live on the crest... not anticipating the next moment,

not trying to control it,

not trying to hang on to the moment that has just passed.

Let go clinging to what has just occurred,

and let go trying to control what you think is about to occur.

is total acceptance

How long are you going to hold on to that?

I'll tell you how long to keep it –

about one second.

Let it go the instant it happens.

Just let it go.

Surrender it completely and totally to God

the instant it happens.

Why? Because you develop the capacity to do that.

So the reason for spiritual training then

is you develop a powerful capacity to let go of anything

and you never know when it's going to come up.

So-and-so just died;

you just let it go,

the minute the phone message comes in

you let it go.
