Funding Game Development

Details

"It takes money to make money." You may have heard that before, and it's as true in game development as it is in the rest of life. This meetup will bring together representatives from several local developers that make a living making games to talk about how they fund their games.

The speakers will be:

Michael Orlando from Lumate on Venture Capital
George Lippert from Speedbump Games (Dream Revenant) on Independent with a publisher
Matt Donatelli from Graphite Lab (Hive Jump, My Little Pony) on Work for Hire/Kickstarter
Seth Coster or Sam Coster from Butterscotch Shenanigans (Crashlands) on Indie
Ben Triola from Happy Badgers on Games in between for-pay projects

This event is open to everyone and there is no level of experience required. Even if you can't see yourself staring a development shop, you will likely learn something about the kinds of decisions that go into making the games you love.

The panel will likely be run by local game development supporter Wes Ehrlichman, but it's intended to be largely interactive. If you have any questions for the panel, please leave them below or bring them to the event and ask the panel yourself.

Note: This event was originally known as "Monetizing games", but the focus has shifted to something that will hopefully be more immediately practical. If you would still like to talk about Monetizing games please say so in the comments below.

Location and Panel Members are subject to change
