This session will be an introduction to data science. It will provide a high-level overview of key terms and concepts, a discussion of related technologies and industry use cases, and a demonstration of a common data science workflow. The goal is for developers to walk away with a better understanding of advanced analytics, and the role of technologies like R and Python, as well as generate further interest in the domain.

Levi Joseph is a recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Double majored in Supply Chain Management and European Studies. He is presently a consultant at Sense Corp, headquartered in St. Louis and a data scientist. Passionate and enthusiastic about the business application of statistics, operations research, and distributed computing. His professional experience includes roles in consulting, analytics and business intelligence in the telecommunications, aerospace, and industrial safety sectors. Most recent projects includes providing post-acquisition IT integration analysis for a Fortune 100 telecommunications company and the development of a strategic road map for a non-profit's mobile application.
